Robert Campbell Identified Missing Brit Found Dead After Failing To Board Flight Home From Lanzarote

In Lanzarote, a British man has been discovered deceased after disappearing during his inaugural overseas vacation.

44-year-old Robert Campbell was scheduled to return to his homeland of Scotland last Thursday, following a trip to the Canary Islands with a companion.

A man named Mr. Campbell, hailing from Uddingston in South Lanarkshire, reportedly fell ill while preparing to board his flight back home. Despite being cleared to fly, he was later separated from his friend Paddy and went missing.

In the ongoing search for the 44-year-old who was reported missing, a body has been discovered. According to Police Scotland, a body was discovered in Lanzarote on Wednesday. Although the identity of the deceased has not been officially confirmed, the family of Mr. Campbell has been notified.

An appeal has been launched by his family to raise thousands of pounds to cover the cost of his funeral and other expenses.

According to Margueritte Devine, who wrote on the GoFundMe appeal, her brother passed away in Lanzarote recently, leaving behind a substantial funeral bill of £6,000 to £10,000. The individual expressed a sense of urgency in bringing their loved one home and made a heartfelt plea for assistance in achieving this goal.

According to sources close to Mr. Campbell, he has been described as “vulnerable” on social media by his friends, who have expressed concern for his well-being and are reportedly “worried sick.”

According to sources, two individuals who were acquainted with him made their way to the Spanish island in an attempt to locate him subsequent to his disappearance from the airport situated in the island’s capital, Las Palmas.

According to The Daily Record, an individual stated that “Robert is vulnerable and potentially lost in a foreign country.” As per the user, it is the individual’s first time traveling overseas, which may result in uncertainty regarding the necessary steps to return home.

As news of his death emerged, people flocked to social media to pay tribute to him, with friends and family calling him “one of the best”.

A GoFundMe page has been shared by a user who is seeking help to bring their uncle Rab (Robert) home as soon as possible. The user has requested everyone to share the page and contribute towards the cause.

According to her statement, she said, “One of our family members and friends flew to Lanzarote to locate him and bring him back home. However, they were unable to reach him in time, which has left us all heartbroken, devastated, and in shock.”

Sharing photos of Mr Campbell, another wrote: “Gutted to hear the passing of our uncle who was reported missing in Lanzarote has been found dead. First time going on holiday and not returning. R.I.P.”

According to a third individual, they expressed their condolences by saying “R.I.P cuz.” You are one of the best. Sending lots love to my cousins thinking about you all, love you.”

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: “The body of a man was found in Lanzarote by Spanish police around 12.50pm on Wednesday, 17 May, 2023.

The individual in question has yet to be officially identified, however, the family of 44-year-old Robert Campbell, who was reported missing from Uddingston on May 11th, have been notified.
