Jonathan Nguyen Found Dead After Diving Into Feather River

A recent college graduate named Jonathan Nguyen, aged 21, tragically drowned over the weekend while swimming and hiking with friends in a California river. Nguyen was described as a “incredible young man” by those who knew him.

The Butte County Sheriff’s Office has reported that the body of 21-year-old Jonathan Nguyen was found by search and rescue personnel on Sunday at 1:30 p.m. This information was obtained from the East Bay Times and the San Francisco Chronicle.

As per the reports, he reportedly jumped off the Magalia Head Dam, taking a 20-foot leap into a “deep pool” located in the vicinity of the Feather River the previous day. According to KTVU, a local Fox affiliate, the individual resurfaced briefly after submerging into the river before being pulled under once more.

According to sources, the body of the individual was discovered by rescuers from the sheriff’s department and Cal Fire-Butte County. The search was conducted using a combination of drones, helicopters, and dive equipment. Nguyen, a Chico State University alumnus, was remembered as a person who had a positive impact on everyone he encountered and was a great friend to many.

As per the details shared on a GoFundMe campaign initiated to support his family, he was a prominent wrestler during his high school years. According to a note on the fundraising campaign, the aim is to honor and commemorate Jonathan’s life while also providing support for his family and the memorial.

Additionally, the campaign seeks to cover the expenses that arise from such a tragic event. A high school wrestling team recently paid tribute to a former teammate on social media. The team’s message highlighted the individual’s positive impact on others, stating that he was someone who “made everyone’s life better.”

According to a tribute by Grenada High School Wrestling, he was a remarkable student-athlete during his school years, a wonderful big brother to Lauren and Maile, an exceptional son to Genevieve and Lai, and a great-grandson to Bess.
