Jedidiah Kehiku Ogboi-Gibson Identified As Victim in Downtown Silver Spring Homicide; Suspect On Run

A homicide that took place on Sunday evening in the 1300 block of Fenwick Lane in downtown Silver Spring is currently under investigation by detectives from the county’s Major Crimes Division.

According to a press release from the MCPD, officers from the Third District were dispatched around 10:36 p.m. on Sunday in response to a shooting report.

Upon their arrival, officers discovered an adult male victim in the parking lot with an apparent gunshot wound.

A 20-year-old man named Jedidiah Kehiku Ogboi-Gibson from Laurel has been identified as the victim. He was pronounced dead at the scene despite efforts by the county’s Fire & Rescue Service to save his life.

The victim’s body will undergo an autopsy by the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner to establish the official cause and manner of death.

During the shooting, several unoccupied cars were hit by bullets. According to the MCPD, the investigation is ongoing and a suspect has not yet been arrested.
