Mateo Godinez-Vallejo Identified As Victim of Fatal Vacaville Shooting; Suspect Identified

On Tuesday, authorities disclosed the identity of a teenager who was fatally shot in Vacaville last week.

A 16-year-old boy named Mateo Godinez-Vallejo, hailing from Sacramento, lost his life on May 11 after being involved in a physical altercation. A shooting incident led to the arrest of a 17-year-old boy. However, the identity of the suspect has not been disclosed yet.

According to an investigation, there was a dispute between Godinez-Vallejo and the suspect before the shooting occurred. The details of what happened and where it took place have not been disclosed.

At approximately 6:30 p.m. on May 11th, police were notified by multiple callers regarding reports of gunfire in the 100 block of Meadows Drive.

Upon arrival, the responding officers discovered that Godinez-Vallejo had sustained a gunshot wound. The teen received medical assistance from officers and was taken to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately passed away.

A Vacaville resident who was identified as the suspect arrived at a local hospital later that night, also suffering from a gunshot wound. According to reports, his condition was deemed non-life threatening and he remained hospitalized over the weekend.

At approximately 8:30 p.m. on May 12th, authorities apprehended the suspect on charges of murder and unlawful discharge of a firearm. Upon his release from the hospital, he was transported to Solano County Juvenile Hall.

A 16-year-old boy from Vacaville was arrested by detectives around noon on Monday, becoming the latest suspect in the ongoing investigation. The suspect has been taken into custody and booked into Juvenile Hall on suspicion of attempted murder and unlawful discharge of a firearm.

The investigation into the matter is ongoing.
