Benjamin Williams Identified As Victim in Clinton County Death Investigation

The identity of the 18-year-old whose body was found in the Wapsipinicon River has been disclosed by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

Benjamin Williams has been identified as the victim. The investigation into the case is ongoing.

The body of an 18-year-old was found in the Wapsipinicon River on Saturday, prompting an investigation by the Clinton County Sheriff’s Office.

At approximately 9:45 a.m., the Sheriff’s Office was dispatched to the Ben Martinsen Wildlife Area in response to a report of a missing individual. According to sources, two teenage campers reported that one of their companions had gone missing from the campsite.

A K9 unit, the Low Moor Fire Department, and a drone were deployed by several agencies for assistance.

An 18-year-old camper’s body was discovered in the backwaters of the Wapsipinicon River by an off-duty Camanche firefighter at 10:28 a.m. According to reports, the victim was pronounced dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim will be disclosed at a later point in time. At this time, the investigation efforts are ongoing.
