Jefferson Perez Identified As Victim Shot To Death at Roosevelt High School

According to authorities, a high school student named Jefferson Perez, aged 17, was shot outside his school earlier this week.

According to Assistant Chief of Police Morgan Kane, the Washington, D.C. Metropolitan Police Department received a dispatch to Roosevelt High School just before 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The officers were sent to the school, and Kane provided this information during a press briefing to the media. Upon their arrival, the officers made a discovery that the boy had been shot once.

According to Kane, he was pronounced dead after being transported to a local hospital. According to police, a teenager is suspected to have been engaged in a “altercation” in the parking lot during school hours.

According to Kane, police officers are currently reviewing “limited” video footage of the incident. At the scene, a gun was found by authorities, however, it is currently unclear how it is linked to the crime.

The victim has been identified as Jefferson Perez by NBC 4 Washington. As per the report, Perez was ambulating on a pavement adjacent to the educational institution when he was fired upon by the individuals travelling in a green vehicle.

Following the incident, nearby MacFarland Middle School and other local schools were placed on lockdown until the end of the school day. In recent news, Perez has passed away just days after two other shootings in the D.C. area that also involved children this week.

A 10-year-old girl named Arianna Davis was shot on Sunday while riding in a car with her family. They were on their way home after celebrating Mother’s Day. According to the Metropolitan Police, she was hit by gunfire in what they described as an accidental barrage.

It has been confirmed by the police that she passed away on Wednesday. A 12-year-old girl in the D.C. area was reportedly sleeping at her home on Monday when a stray bullet pierced through her room’s window.

A woman sustained non-life-threatening injuries after being shot in the leg. During the news conference, Kane expressed his deep sadness and heartbreak for the children affected by the actions of the police agency in the city.

He emphasized the severity of the situation and the impact it has had on him personally. The speaker stated that the situation has made them more deliberate and intentional in their efforts to understand what is happening with their children.
