Michael Brady Identified As Victim Killed After Unpaid Rent Dispute in Fresno; Suspect Identified

On Wednesday, the Fresno Police Department disclosed the identity of a 56-year-old man who was killed in a dispute over unpaid rent during the weekend.

According to authorities, a shooting occurred at approximately 10:00 a.m. on East Dakota Avenue in the 4500 block, resulting in the death of 56-year-old Michael Brady. The alleged shooter has been identified as 79-year-old Ira Lewis.

According to investigators, there was an ongoing dispute over unpaid rent between Lewis and Brady, who was Lewis’ tenant. According to detectives, Brady was confronted by Lewis outside the location just before the shooting occurred.

According to police, the individual suspected of the Fresno shooting over the weekend has been identified as a 79-year-old.

According to investigators, Lewis allegedly shot Brady multiple times during the confrontation and subsequently retreated into his residence. According to reports, Brady was taken to a nearby hospital and subsequently passed away.

According to officers, Lewis was observed departing from the scene on foot and entering his residence, which is situated on the same premises. Lewis was arrested by the police after they surrounded his home.

The Fresno Police Department has provided an image of 79-year-old Ira Lewis, who was involved in an incident where investigators had a challenging time locating a firearm. The difficulty was attributed to the presence of several structures and residences on the property.

Up to 40 officers participated in the search. According to police, the search that commenced on Saturday concluded on Monday morning after they discovered the firearm in the basement of Lewis’ residence.

As per investigators, Brady has been living at the aforementioned location along with his spouse for about five years. He was served a 30-day notice.

According to police, Brady’s wife, who is a witness, reported ongoing rent issues dating back to February. According to police, Lewis has denied any involvement in the shooting.
