Yakima Police investigates following a fatal shooting in the area of Lewis Ave and Fairbanks Ave. early Tuesday

According to Yakima Police Department, shortly after 1:00 AM on May 17, 2023, officers responded to multiple reports of gunshots being fired in the area of Lewis Ave and Fairbanks Ave. When officers arrived, they found a 33-year-old Yakima man, deceased from apparent gunshot wounds.

According to police, a suspect has not been identified and a motive for the incident is unknown. The investigation is ongoing.

The next of kin have been notified, however we will not be releasing the victim’s name at this time, police said.
