Aaron Anderson Identified As US Marshals Arrested Suspect in Deadly Salem Shooting; Victim Identified

In a recent development, a man suspected of fatally shooting a 19-year-old woman in Salem in March was arrested with the aid of U.S. Marshals towards the end of last month.

On April 26, Aaron Anderson, a 20-year-old resident of Portland, was apprehended in Sacramento, California. On Tuesday, the arrest of the individual was announced by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO).

In an unincorporated area of East Salem, a 911 caller reported hearing gunshots just after midnight on Embassy Way Northeast near Satter Drive Northeast on March 2. At the Embassy Court Apartments, deputies discovered a woman who had sustained gunshot wounds while inside a vehicle. According to the sheriff’s office, she was pronounced dead.

According to the latest report by the Marion County Sheriff’s Office, the identity of the woman mentioned in their initial news release has been revealed. The woman has been identified as Jissel Segura, a 19-year-old resident of the Woodburn area.

After a thorough investigation by detectives from the sheriff’s Criminal Investigations Unit, Anderson was arrested by law enforcement almost two months after the fatal shooting.

No additional information was disclosed by the sheriff’s office regarding the events leading up to the shooting or the evidence that resulted in Anderson’s apprehension. No information was provided by the agency regarding the nature of the relationship between Anderson and Segura.

Anderson has been charged with second-degree murder and unlawful use of a weapon.
