William O’Brien Identified As Man Arrested in a Deadly Shooting at a Home in Mansfield

On Monday, a man linked to a fatal shooting at a residence in Mansfield during the weekend is scheduled to appear before a judge.

According to the Bristol District Attorney’s Office, 22-year-old William O’Brien from Manchester-by-the-Sea is set to face charges of murder, carrying an illegal firearm, and carrying a loaded illegal firearm in the death of 23-year-old Samuel Waters from Mansfield. O’Brien is expected to be arraigned in Attleboro District Court.

On Monday, a murder charge was added by the Bristol County District Attorney.

On Saturday at approximately 11 a.m., authorities were dispatched to 42 West Church Street where they discovered Waters with gunshot injuries. According to investigators, the victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds.

Following an investigation, O’Brien was detained in connection with Waters’ death. It’s not yet clear if additional charges will be filed against O’Brien.

The individual expressed being completely taken aback by the situation. Neighbor Mike Carr expressed devastation upon learning that it was Sam.

The individual expressed that it was a tragedy. According to the source, the individual in question was described as a kind and amiable person, with no negative qualities to speak of.

Mansfield police are currently receiving assistance from Massachusetts State Police detectives in an ongoing investigation.
