Candace Craig and Salia Hardy Identified As Suspect in the Murder of Margaret Craig

According to sources, the suspects in question are Candace Craig and Salia Hardy. In Maryland, a mother and daughter have been accused of dismembering the family matriarch with a chainsaw and grilling the body pieces to dispose of them. The incident reportedly occurred after a dispute over a credit card.

A 71-year-old woman named Margaret Craig was found deceased at her home on Kin’s Hill Road in Landover during a welfare check conducted by authorities on Friday. It is believed that she had been deceased for over a week prior to the discovery.

As per the Prince George’s County Police Department, upon entering the basement, the officers were immediately met with the scent of decomposition. According to preliminary investigations conducted by homicide detectives, Candace Craig allegedly murdered her mother on May 23.

On the subsequent day, Salia Hardy, aged 19, purportedly assisted Craig in getting rid of her grandmother’s remains. Police report that Candace Craig, Margaret’s 44-year-old daughter, answered the door and granted officers permission to search for her mother.

According to charging documents obtained by WJLA, blood and tissue were observed on the floor near three white plastic trash bags in the basement. According to the authorities, they discovered a bag containing what seemed to be brain tissue.

Additionally, they observed a knife on the ground, which subsequently disappeared. Upon inspection of the cellar, various cutting tools, a chainsaw cover, cleaning supplies, and blood spatter were discovered emanating a strong odor of decay.

According to a report by WTOP, during an interview with detectives, Salia Hardy, daughter of Candace, claimed that her grandmother had accused Candace of credit card fraud and had threatened to report her to the police.

According to official records, an argument between two women turned physical, resulting in the death of Margaret. The records do not specify the cause of death. The following day, Hardy reportedly made a shocking discovery when she found her grandmother’s body concealed inside a blue plastic container in her bedroom. It is alleged that she then assisted her mother in disposing of the container.

According to Assistant State’s Attorney Jessica Garth, Candace Craig and her daughter allegedly dismembered the body, possibly with a chainsaw, and then tried to dispose of the remains by burning them on a grill and in a bonfire.

According to prosecutors, the remains of the grandmother were found mutilated beyond recognition when the police arrived at the crime scene 10 days later. However, they are confident that DNA testing will confirm that the body parts found at the scene belong to the deceased.

According to Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Aisha Braveboy, the statement is an understatement as it is disturbing. The statement made by the user was one of horror. Two years prior to the tragedy, Candace posted a lovely Mother’s Day message on her Facebook page, expressing her admiration for her mother as “the number one woman in my life.”

On May 9, 2021, a 44-year-old wrote, “I hope you have an awesome and peaceful day.” In a heartfelt statement, the speaker expressed their deep affection for the listener, stating “I don’t get to say it often, but I adore you to the moon and back.”

According to sources, Hardy expressed his Mother’s Day greetings with the words, “Happy Mother’s Day Grandma and Mommy,” accompanied by three heart emojis. Candace faces charges of first and second degree murder.

A charge of accessory after the fact has been brought against her daughter. The mother is set to appear in court on July 3 for a preliminary hearing. Both she and Hardy are currently being held without bond.
