Gregory Mallard, aged 35, who had previously been convicted of aggravated manslaughter and was the father of Norelis Mendoza’s two children, aged 32, has been identified.
According to Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez, Mallard has been charged with several offenses including murder, unlawful possession of a weapon (vehicle), possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose (vehicle), failing to dispose of human remains in a manner prescribed by law, desecration of human remains, hindering and tampering with physical evidence. Mendoza, a mother of a 1-year-old and a 3-year-old, was reported missing on Sunday. She was last seen at her mother’s residence on Saturday night.
On Friday night, Geovanni Molina, Mendoza’s cousin, stated that while nothing can bring Norelis back, there is a remarkable sense of relief.
According to the family, all the law enforcement agencies involved, particularly the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office, did an exceptional job and they would like to express their gratitude.
According to Molina, Mallard has been charged with domestic violence against his cousin earlier this year and Mendoza had filed for a restraining order against him at some point, as reported by NJ.com.
According to reports, Mallard, a well-known member of the 52 Hoover Street Crips gang, has been charged in connection with a murder that occurred in 2008. Mallard was subsequently sentenced to state prison on February 20, 2009, and remained incarcerated until his release on June 7, 2020.
According to Molina, Mendoza was aware of Mallard’s history, but still possessed a kind and compassionate nature. According to sources, she was known for consistently providing others with her utmost effort and attention.
