James Smith, 20, Identified as Suspect Arrested, Charged in Fatal Shooting in Pickens County

James Smith Arrested: A 20-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal shooting Thursday night in Easley.

Chandler James Smith was accused by the Pickens County Sheriff’s Office with murder and having a firearm while committing a violent offense.

Around 9:38 p.m., deputies responded to a shooting in the 300 block of Jericho Ridge Trail.

Upon their arrival, deputies were informed by a witness that Smith had shot her husband after an argument.

Before being taken away from the site, according to the investigators, the victim passed away from his injuries.

The victim has not yet been identified by the Pickens County Coroner’s Office.

Deputies discovered that the subject left the scene on foot and headed toward Saluda Dam Road.

Later, Smith was discovered close to Rocky Lane and Prince Perry Road.

According to authorities, he was arrested and is now being held at the Pickens County Detention Center.

The Pickens County Sheriff’s Office and the Pickens County Coroner’s Office are both looking into the shooting.
