Iren Byers Identified As Suspect Arrested After Random Shooting Spree Kills 4 and Injures 1

Over the weekend, a shooting rampage occurred in Arizona that left four people dead and one injured. The suspect, identified as Iren Byers, was reportedly enraged over his brother’s fentanyl addiction. Byers, a young man, has been taken into custody in connection with the incident.

According to authorities, a 20-year-old named Iren Byers was apprehended on Sunday and has admitted to being the sole gunman responsible for the shooting spree that occurred between Friday afternoon in Phoenix and Saturday in Mesa.

In his police confession, Byers stated that he was armed with a 9mm handgun and asserted that his victims were undeserving of life. He cited three of them as fentanyl users, one as homeless, and the other as someone who had simply upset him.

As per court documents, the initial shooting took place on Friday at 2:14 p.m. in Phoenix. The security cameras recorded the incident where Byers shot Nicholas Arnstad, 41. According to reports, Byers reportedly admitted to law enforcement officials that he fatally shot the victim in the head.

Byers claimed that he did so because he believed the victim was using fentanyl, a substance that he strongly disapproved of due to his brother’s addiction to it. According to authorities, Byers met his second victim, Julian Cox, 41, near Beverly Park after boarding a bus bound for Mesa following his escape from the scene.

According to authorities, Cox was engaged in conversation with Byers about “blues,” a street name for fentanyl, while seated on the south side of the park. This conversation led to Byers killing Cox.

According to authorities, Byers was captured on a neighboring Ring camera entering the park through a hole in the fence and proceeding towards the location where Cox’s body was discovered on Friday night.

The footage captured the sound of a gunshot. During the investigation of the park shooting, detectives were alerted to another round of gunfire shortly after midnight. They quickly rushed to locate Angela Fonseca, who was the only surviving victim of the alleged rampage carried out by Byers.

According to police reports, Byers stated that he encountered the woman while traveling along Main Street. Allegedly, the woman’s actions caused him to become agitated, resulting in him shooting her in the face.

In the Phoenix metro area, a suspect has been arrested in connection with five separate shootings.

As per official sources, Byers reportedly admitted to shooting her once more upon realizing that she was still breathing. Fonseca was reportedly rushed to the nearby Banner Desert Medical Center.

According to reports, the shooter proceeded to board the light rail along with his second victim, identified as 41-year-old Stephen Young, who purportedly expressed a desire to smoke fentanyl. According to a witness, Byers was spotted traveling south on Country Club Drive in Mesa.

The witness also reported seeing the gunman flee the scene following a loud pop. Young suffered a gunshot wound to the head, similar to Cox’s injuries.

According to Elaina, the sister of Young, the latter had been grappling with mental health and substance abuse problems for several years. However, he was making efforts to turn his life around. On that day, he made a phone call to me.

According to the speaker, they stated that Stephen sounded good. The individual expressed their delight upon hearing the news. According to AZ Family, Elaina expressed her love saying, “I love you.” According to sources, the individual in question was highly regarded and considered to be a kind-hearted individual.

According to the police, the fifth shooting took place after midnight when Byers encountered John Swain, a 40-year-old homeless man, near the railroad tracks by Extension and 2nd Avenue in Mesa.

According to authorities, Byers did not disclose to the police that Swain was a fentanyl user, unlike the other victims. Byers reportedly claimed that he killed Swain because he was homeless and not from the area.

According to the authorities, Byers claimed to have shot Swain as he was running down a nearby hill, and then fired the fatal shot. At approximately 2 a.m., police discovered the body of a man at the scene and recovered three shell casings.

According to police, Byers was taken into custody on Saturday for an unrelated offense. However, during questioning, he admitted to being the shooter that authorities had been seeking.

According to reports, the individual in question provided law enforcement officials with the location of his firearm and the attire he was wearing at the time of the attacks.

The accused, Byers, is currently in custody without bail and is charged with four counts of first-degree murder and one count of attempted first-degree murder.
