In connection with a shooting that occurred one week ago and resulted in life-threatening injuries to another man, a man is now facing multiple charges.
Louisville Metro police have arrested Yussuf Ali, a 21-year-old resident of Louisville. The individual has been taken into custody and booked into Louisville Metro Corrections on multiple charges including attempted murder, assault, robbery, and wanton endangerment.
On May 31, a shooting occurred at Elliott Park located in the 600 block of S. 28th Street. According to court documents, a 21-year-old victim was given a ride by Ali and his girlfriend.
At Elliott Park, two men exited their vehicle when suddenly Ali brandished a handgun and aimed it at the victim. Ali proceeded to demand money and valuables from the victim.
According to reports, Ali allegedly fired two shots in an attempt to rob the victim after the latter refused to hand over his valuables. Despite the warning shots, the victim reportedly remained steadfast in his refusal to comply with Ali’s demands.
According to court documents, the victim was reportedly shot multiple times in the abdomen by Ali.
According to the report, Ali allegedly shot the man once in the arm after he had fallen to the ground. Ali then proceeded to search the man’s pockets, taking his cell phone and wallet.
As per the report, Ali had begun to depart when they observed that the victim was still alive and attempting to crawl away.
According to reports, during the incident, Ali allegedly aimed a shot at the victim’s head. However, the victim was able to defend himself by raising his leg. According to reports, the victim’s foot was struck by a round.
According to the police, Ali fled the scene.
