Karima Jiwani Identified As Arrested Mom After Infant Found in Plastic Bag

In a recent development, Karima Jiwani, who is the biological mother of a child known as “Baby India,” has been taken into custody by law enforcement officials in Georgia. This comes almost four years after the infant was discovered abandoned in the forest, having been left for dead in a plastic bag.

Individual appeared to be overcome with emotion. On Friday, Forsyth County Sheriff Ron Freeman made an announcement during a press conference regarding the arrest of Karima Jiwani, a 40-year-old individual.

Jiwani has been charged with attempted murder, cruelty to children, aggravated assault, and reckless abandonment. According to Freeman, “Baby India’s” biological mother has been identified as Jiwani through DNA testing.

In Cumming on June 6, 2019, a neighbor contacted a sheriff’s deputy after hearing the sound of a crying baby in the woods near the 1900 block of Daves Creek Road. In a recently released body camera footage, Deputy Terry Roper stumbled upon a plastic bag that was tied up and hidden in the brush.

Upon further inspection, he discovered a newborn baby girl inside the bag, with her umbilical cord still attached. The authorities have released the footage in hopes of gathering more information and leads on the case.

At a local hospital, a newborn was weighed in at 6 lbs, 5 oz. The newborn was given the nickname “Baby India” by the nurses who provided her with medical attention. On Friday, Sheriff Freeman reported that his deputies have dedicated numerous hours to identifying the individual accountable for deserting the newborn.

A suspect in the case of “Baby India” has been arrested years after a newborn was found abandoned in the woods.

According to Freeman, in his 33 years of experience in law enforcement, he has never been more eager to make an arrest than he was in this particular case.

In a statement delivered with a trembling voice, the sheriff reported that a child had been bound and discarded in a plastic bag in the woods, likening the heinous act to the disposal of garbage. According to the individual, the sight was one of the most sorrowful things they had ever witnessed.

As per Freeman’s statement, a significant breakthrough in the investigation occurred 10 months ago. The detectives were able to trace the biological father of “Baby India” through familiar DNA, which ultimately led them to Jiwani.

According to the sheriff, county investigators, with the assistance of the FBI, have confirmed within the past week, using DNA, that the woman is indeed the birth mother of “Baby India”.

According to Freeman, Jiwani, who has children of various ages, was aware of her pregnancy with “Baby India” during the summer of 2019. Freeman also noted that Jiwani had a past of hiding her pregnancies and giving birth unexpectedly.

According to reports, a 40-year-old mother gave birth to a baby in a car and then proceeded to drive for an extended period of time without attempting to leave the infant in a safe location where she could be found and cared for.

According to Freeman, who happens to be a parent as well, the alleged act of Jiwani is both incomprehensible and infuriating.

According to Freeman, Deputy Roper, who had answered the call in 2019, was one of the arresting officers of Jiwani. The woman was taken into custody using the sheriff’s handcuffs.

According to reports, the father of “Baby India” was unaware of Jiwani’s pregnancy and is not currently facing any charges. According to Freeman, the whereabouts of “Baby India” during the intervening years remain undisclosed.

However, Freeman did confirm that the girl, who is now almost four years old, is currently in a secure and safe location and is leading a content and healthy life.

Jiwani has been ordered to be held without bond in the county jail. According to sources, she is set to appear in court for the first time on Saturday morning.
