Marianna, Arkansas Shooting Leads to “Tragic” Death of Olansa Bender

Marianna, Arkansas Shooting: In Marianna, Arkansas, a shooting took place on the evening of May 27, 2023, leaving one person dead and four others injured.

Around 11:00 p.m., a report of a shooting in the Chestnut Street parking lot of the O’Reilly Auto Parts store was made to Marianna police. The event is being looked into by Arkansas State Police at the moment.

Unknown at this time is the condition of the one man who was brought to Regional One Medical Center in Memphis. A woman was transported to UAMS Medical Center in Little Rock in a critical condition.

Following the incident, Olansa Bender, a 37-year-old Jonesboro resident, was transported to Forrest City Medical Center.

Sadly, he was pronounced dead when he got to the hospital. The Arkansas State Crime Laboratory will conduct an autopsy to ascertain his cause of death and how it occurred.

The four people who were hurt in the incident have been named as Tracy Ewans (age 36), Markel Ellis (age 27), Jaquasia Davis (age 20), and Jerome Smith (age 31).

Although the investigation into the event is still underway, the Marianna Police Department has asked the Arkansas State Police’s Criminal Inquiry Division for assistance.
