The shooting incident that occurred on Thursday on Interstate 84 in Waterbury is still being investigated as of Friday morning.
On Friday morning, it was disclosed by the state police that the incident occurred on the westbound side of the highway near exit 20.
Two vehicles were involved in a chase and shots were fired between the drivers around 7:30 p.m. on Thursday.
According to the report by state police, troopers were informed that one of the vehicles involved in the incident had collided on the exit 20 off ramp while they were responding.
Upon arrival, it was discovered that the operator of the vehicle had fled the scene, according to reports.
On Thursday night, the state police closed the westbound side of the highway in the Mixmaster area near exit 19.
On Thursday night, Eyewitness News crews captured footage of troopers searching the area with flashlights.
Drivers were asked to seek an alternative route by troopers at the time of the closure.
The highway has been reopened, according to reports.
