A Colorado mother-of-three, Francesca Williams, was fatally shot during a violent home invasion at her farm in Ecuador. Williams had been living in Ecuador with her family as expatriates.
According to an interview with news station KDVR, Francesca Williams, along with her husband Michael, three teenage daughters, and father-in-law, were present at their farm in the village of Vilacamba on May 20 when a group of men entered the property.
According to Michael, he was struck, potentially with a brick, while standing outside, resulting in him falling to the ground.
John, the father-in-law of the individual, was reportedly stabbed multiple times. John is said to suffer from various medical conditions, including emphysema and dementia.
According to Marianna Bacilla, Francesca witnessed her father being attacked while hanging laundry outside and attempted to intervene. According to Bacilla, she descended to rescue him, but was met with gunfire.
A mother of three was fatally shot in the back. According to reports, the daughters of the Williams family were fortunate to have escaped physical harm during the robbery. Rachel, the daughter of the victim, provided a statement detailing her recollection of the incident.
According to the girl, she witnessed a distressing scene involving her grandpa and two unfamiliar men. One of the men was positioned to the right of her grandpa while the other was engaged in a physical altercation with her mother. The girl reported that her mother was struggling to fend off the second man.
According to the witness, two sparks of a gun were seen and gunshots were heard. According to Rachel, she closed the door to her residence, but intruders allegedly barged in and inquired about the whereabouts of a “large aunt” in Spanish.
The teenager suspects that the fatal break-in could have been a case of mistaken identity. According to Rachel, she stated that the individuals were inquiring about the whereabouts of a “large aunt”, which she claims does not correspond to anyone who has ever visited their premises.
In a tragic incident, robbers shot and killed an American mother in front of her husband, father, and three children.
According to reports, Michael Williams was tied up by a group of men who proceeded to ransack his house, taking valuable items such as computers and iPads before making their escape. Francesca was rushed to a hospital by Michael and his children, but unfortunately, she could not be saved.
A GoFundMe campaign has been launched by her adoptive mother to raise funds for the family. Over $28,000 has been donated thus far. According to Bacilla’s description, Francesca’s hometown is Poway, California, and she pursued her higher education at the University of California-San Diego, where she obtained a Bachelor’s degree in linguistics.
A multilingual woman who worked as a translator and illustrator had recently published her debut book. She was proficient in French, Spanish, and Lithuanian.
Francesca’s family resides in Vilcabamba, Ecuador, where they are constructing a small farm and raising a variety of animals, including chickens, goats, horses, pigs, ducks, and guinea fowl. Their ultimate objective is to achieve sustainable farming.
According to Bacilla, it was their humble Shangri-La. Francesca launched a fundraiser in 2020 seeking financial assistance for the Williams family, who have reportedly encountered numerous obstacles while residing in Ecuador.
In a detailed account, she shared her difficulties in covering the medical expenses of her parents who are disabled and finding suitable medical professionals for her youngest daughter, Renee, who has a rare genetic disorder that hinders her growth and overall development.
Francesca revealed that she had contracted a perilous tropical parasitic infection. She expressed her apprehension by stating, “I always thought I’d care for my parents until the very end.” The individual expressed, “It never occurred to me that I might pass away before them!”
After experiencing a decline in health, the woman was compelled to travel back to the United States to receive urgent medical attention for her infection. However, it seems that the family eventually made their way back to Ecuador to continue their farming lifestyle.
According to Michael, Francesca ironically felt the safest in Ecuador. The speaker suggested that if they had remained in the United States, their family member would still be alive and their family would not have experienced any tragedy.
The Williams family members who survived the tragic incident are currently making arrangements to head back to Colorado, where they possess a residence. Francesca, who passed away, will be interred beside her biological mother who passed away earlier this year in 2021.
