Kenny Martinez Identified As Victim in Portsmouth Neighborhood Homicide

22-year-old Kenny Martinez has been identified as the victim in the shooting that occurred in the Portsmouth Neighborhood. According to the Medical Examiner, the cause of death for the victim was a gunshot wound and has been ruled as a homicide.

The family of Martinez has been informed of his passing and has shared a photograph for public dissemination. According to sources, the family has made a request that the photograph not be cropped to emphasize Martinez’s role as a devoted father who was actively involved in his child’s life. At this time, family members are requesting privacy.

A shooting call was responded to by officers from the North Precinct on Friday, May 12, 2023, at 11:30 p.m. The incident occurred in the 7600 block of North Portsmouth Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered a man who appeared to have sustained a gunshot wound. A man was taken to a local hospital and later passed away.
