Just days after a man from Argentina was killed in a machete attack in another coastal town in Oaxaca, a fatal shooting has occurred.

In a recent incident, Argentine tourist Benjamin Gamond was reportedly attacked with a machete on Friday in the hamlet of La Isla, situated at the mouth of the Laguna de Chacahua, on the Pacific coast. Located approximately 100 kilometers to the west of Puerto Escondido, is the renowned Laguna de Chacahua.

According to a statement released by state prosecutors, Gamond passed away on Monday after being transferred to a hospital in Mexico City. According to sources, the individual who allegedly attacked Gamond and two other Argentine tourists, who fortunately survived, is currently in custody on suspicion of homicide.

According to recent data, Oaxaca and its beaches boast lower crime rates compared to the majority of states in Mexico.

Two American citizens have reportedly died following the kidnapping of a group of four individuals in northern Mexico this year.
