According to West Virginia State Police, Caleb Staunton, an employee at a daycare center in Charleston, is facing child abuse charges.
According to West Virginia State Police, a 21-year-old man named Caleb Staunton from Beckley has been charged with child abuse. According to troopers, a complaint regarding abuse was reported by the administration at the Discovery Kingdom Daycare in Charleston on Thursday.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Kanawha County Magistrate Court, surveillance video captured an alleged incident that occurred on Wednesday afternoon.
As per the complaint, it has been reported that Staunton was seen in the video grabbing the toddler’s left arm, seating him in a chair, and making an attempt to change his socks.
According to reports, Staunton has been accused of forcefully removing the socks from the toddler, resulting in the child nearly losing balance and falling off the chair. In an unfortunate incident, the child fell as the chair slid.
According to troopers, after the child sat back down, Staunton, who stands at 6’1″ and weighs 220 pounds, reportedly seized the back of the toddler’s head, pulled it backwards, and maintained that grip for a few seconds. According to troopers, Staunton confessed to exhibiting aggressive behavior towards the child, citing the child’s alleged action of throwing shoes at him as the trigger.
According to troopers, he confessed to pulling the child’s head back and referred to the technique as “Link,” which he claimed to have learned. On Thursday evening, Staunton was arraigned in Kanawha County Magistrate Court.
