After a shooting outside an Atlanta high school, one teen was killed and another was hurt.
According to authorities, the two 16-year-olds were shot when they were in the Benjamin E. Mays High School driveway early on Sunday morning.
After a gunshot early on Sunday morning outside an Atlanta high school, one youngster is dead and another is hurt, according to authorities.
At this point, there are no suspects in custody, but according to the police, several high school-aged teenagers were part in the incident.
Around 2:27 a.m., Atlanta Police Department officers responded to a report of many people being shot at Benjamin E. Mays High School. A 16-year-old boy and a 16-year-old girl were discovered on the scene and brought to nearby hospitals.
According to officials, the youngster is in a stable condition while the girl has been confirmed deceased.
The deceased victim is identified as 16-year-old Breasia Powell.
In a news briefing Sunday afternoon, the deceased victim was “full of life.”
“My heart goes out to both families, and definitely to the family of the decedent,” he said. “This young lady was full of life, and was actually expected to be working for the city of Atlanta starting on Tuesday in our summer youth employment program,” Mayor Andre Dickens said in a statement.
