Matthew Davis Identified As Victim Shot To Death In Texas; Suspects Identified

A 32-year-old Texas man was shot and killed while working at Sonic Drive-In on Saturday night, leaving friends and family in mourning. In Keene, Texas, Matthew Davis was reportedly working the night shift when he was fatally shot by a 12-year-old boy.

The Keene Police Department has reported that shots were fired at the Sonic on Saturday evening at approximately 9:40 p.m., according to a news release. Upon arrival, officers discovered Davis on the ground with multiple gunshot wounds.

The individual was transported to a medical facility in close proximity, where medical professionals declared the individual deceased.

At 32 years old, Matthew Davis has passed away.

As per the official statement, it has been established that Angel Gomez, a 20-year-old individual, had arrived at the Sonic on that particular evening with passengers in his vehicle. According to the announcement, the victim, who was a Sonic employee, confronted Gomez after he began being disorderly in the parking lot.

According to a release, after Davis confronted Gomez, a physical altercation ensued, during which a juvenile, reportedly 12 years old retrieved a firearm and shot the victim multiple times.

After the incident, Gomez and the child quickly left the area and Gomez was later caught by authorities.

The alleged shooter was subsequently found by authorities, along with other firearms. According to the Keene Police Department, charges of murder in connection with Davis’ death have been filed against the 12-year-old and Gomez.

It remains unclear whether either of the individuals in question has filed a plea or secured legal representation. According to a GoFundMe page created to assist with funeral costs, Davis is survived by a 10-year-old son.
