According to NBC Washington, gunfire broke out during the burial of Arianna Davis at Washington National Cemetery in Suitland on Tuesday. Davis had been shot while sleeping in her family’s car on May 14 and tragically passed away.
In a developing story, Wilson Chavis, aged 48 and owner of Compassion and Serenity Funeral Home, has been accused of murdering Ronald Banks, aged 30, who was serving as a pallbearer at a funeral.
Sources suggest that the motive behind the alleged crime may be a commercial dispute with Freeman Funeral Services that has been ongoing for some time. According to Antionette Belk, the mother of the girl named Arianna, a female relative of Arianna was injured in the shooting and suffered a wound to her leg.
According to Prince George’s County police, Chavis from Hughesville, Maryland, has been charged with first- and second-degree murder and attempted murder. As reported by Fox 5 DC, a violent incident occurred when a funeral services provider allegedly confronted a pastor and another individual believed to be associated with Freeman Funeral Services.
The encounter resulted in a tragic outcome. As per court documents obtained by WUSA 9, Chavis allegedly approached the pastor at the gravesite and made a derogatory statement, saying, “I am here for all you b—-a- n——!” As reported by the publication, it is alleged that he proceeded to push the priest and shout, “This is not your damn funeral home.”

The pastor, Joseph Fletcher, and another employee were among those for whom she requested protection. According to the outlet, the temporary restraining order was revoked on the day of the shooting, early Tuesday, due to the petitioner’s failure to appear for an 8:45 a.m. hearing.
