The JESUS Film Project Founder, Paul Eshleman of Southern California Died At 80
Paul Eshleman Obituary: Paul Eshleman was most recognized for having helped JESUS become the movie that has been translated the most throughout history. On May 24, Paul Eshleman was declared dead in Southern California.
At age 80, he passed away. Eshleman fought valiantly for the cause of Christ and exhorted the Church to think of creative strategies for evangelization. In addition to his wife Rena, Eshleman also leaves behind two grown children and six grandchildren.
Eshleman also gave the Finishing the Task Movement orders to compile statistics to track and reach the world’s unreached and unengaged peoples.
Paul also oversaw the Strategy Working Group of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization. Among his works are I Just Saw Jesus: The JESUS Film (2016), The Touch of Jesus (2002), and The Explo Story: A Plan to Change the World (1972).
Eshleman was dedicated to using his knowledge to advance the Gospel. He graduated from Michigan State University with a master’s degree in business administration, marketing, and finance.
Paul began working for Cru, previously Campus Crusade for Christ, in 1966. Early in his tenure with the group, Eshleman directed EXPLO 72, a training event for communicating one’s faith in Jesus Christ that drew around 80,000 people from all over the country to Dallas, Texas.
