According to authorities, an 18-year-old recent high school graduate named Spencer Pearson, who resides near Jacksonville, Florida, allegedly stabbed his ex-girlfriend Madison Schemitz, 17, multiple times before attempting to slit his own throat. The incident occurred on Monday.
Seventeen-year-old high school softball standout, Madison Schemitz, was enjoying a meal with her mother, Jacki Rogé, and a friend at a local restaurant this past Saturday. It was then that they spotted Spencer Pearson, Schemitz’s former partner, standing in close proximity.
As reported by First Coast News, the trio had expressed fear towards Mr. Pearson. This was due to the fact that after Ms. Schemitz ended her relationship with him, he had made violent threats towards her. The situation had escalated to the point where Ms. Schemitz’s mother was in the process of obtaining a restraining order against him.
Madison Schemitz was allegedly the target of an attempted stabbing by her ex-boyfriend, according to reports. The suspect has been taken into custody and is facing charges related to the incident.
Upon Mr. Pearson’s arrival at the restaurant, the group settled their bill and proceeded to exit the establishment, making their way towards their vehicle in order to steer clear of the ex-high school football player.
According to reports, Mr. Pearson intervened and prevented the two women from reaching their vehicle. It is alleged that he proceeded to stab both Ms. Schemitz and her mother. According to reports, the stabbing of Ms. Schemitz and her mother came to a halt only after a bystander, identified as Kennedy Armstrong, 23, heard screaming and intervened.
According to reports, Mr. Pearson proceeded to assault Mr. Armstrong, allegedly using a knife to stab him in the arm and sever several tendons. In a tragic turn of events, Mr. Pearson reportedly stabbed himself in the throat in what appears to be a suicide attempt.
Both he and Ms. Schmetiz are currently in critical condition, and according to reports, the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office is ready to charge Pearson with attempted murder if he pulls through from his self-inflicted injury.
A fundraising campaign has been initiated on GoFundMe to aid Ms. Schemitz in covering her substantial medical costs. Following the attack, she was admitted to the hospital and has undergone multiple procedures.
The GoFundMe campaign has surpassed $60,000 in donations. In a recent post on the page, Ms. Rogé shared an update on her and her daughter’s progress. According to the update, the individual is currently preparing to undergo surgery due to the severing of their hand muscles from the bone.
Madison, who has sustained a spinal cord injury, is currently equipped with two chest tubes. Despite her condition, she remains a fighter and is in need of your prayers.
