Rollover Crash Sunday Near Sauk Centre, Minnesota Leaves 1 Dead

On Sunday, June 4, a one-vehicle rollover crash near Sauk Centre claimed the life of a man from Detroit Lakes.

According to a news release from the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office, a crash was reported by a 911 caller at approximately 1:32 a.m. on Sunday morning.

The incident occurred in the 43000 block of County Road 17, which is located about 2 miles northwest of Sauk Centre. According to the caller, a vehicle was found in the ditch and an adult male was seen lying in the middle of the roadway.

A collision between a truck and a motorcyclist in Sherburne County has resulted in the death of the motorcyclist.

In a crash that occurred on Saturday, June 3, David L. Scherping, aged 51, was thrown from his motorcycle.

According to the Morrison County Sheriff’s Office, Scherping had previously served as a deputy in the county.

According to a release, law enforcement discovered a man, who was later identified as Collin James Flynn, 24, of Detroit Lakes, lying in the roadway upon their arrival.

A GMC Terrain from 2012 was found in the ditch located in the southwest of County Road 17. According to the sheriff’s office, the GMC sustained significant damage and showed signs of having rolled over multiple times.

According to the crash scene investigation, Flynn was traveling in a 2012 GMC Terrain in a southeast direction on 17, headed towards Sauk Centre.

According to the release, the Terrain veered off the road to the right, hit a field approach, and then went airborne before rolling multiple times. A discovery was made in the ditch located in the southwest area of County Road 17.

According to the release, Flynn was transported to a hospital and was later declared deceased.

According to the sheriff’s office, the cause of the crash is currently under investigation and alcohol is being suspected as a factor. The Sauk Centre Police Department and Sauk Centre Ambulance Service provided assistance to the Stearns County Sheriff’s Office.
