Sixty-seven-year-old Oscar Omar Delbono of Homosassa is being held without bond for the charge of attempted murder, following a shooting incident on Sunday, June 4, 2023, at the Dollar General located at 6798 W. Gulf to Lake Hwy in Crystal River.
According to a report by the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office, detectives have found that the suspect, who has been identified as Delbono, engaged in a verbal altercation with the victim at the entrance of the store during a preliminary investigation.
After the dispute, Delbono proceeded to his vehicle, where he stowed his belongings and retrieved his .45 caliber handgun. According to eyewitnesses, the individual proceeded to traverse the parking lot before approaching the victim, who was in the process of entering their vehicle.
According to witnesses, the defendant was seen aiming the firearm at the victim and discharging it several times. According to reports, there were no witnesses who saw the victim in possession of a weapon.
Just feet away from the victim’s vehicle, six shell casings were found. According to reports, the victim sustained four gunshot wounds during the incident.
Two of the bullets hit the victim’s abdomen, while another struck the elbow. Additionally, a single round grazed the victim’s side. The victim is reported to be in critical, but stable condition at this time.
