In Abertridwr, Caerphilly, a 27-year-old man named Benjamin Lloyd was found deceased at a residence on April 2nd, one day following the attack by Jay Webster on April 1st. During a “silly argument” between the two, Mr. Lloyd was knocked out by a blow to the head.
In a recent development, Webster has been sentenced to five years and three months in prison. This comes after the individual pleaded guilty to manslaughter at Cardiff Crown Court. According to the court, witnesses observed the argument outside a library with terror.
According to witness Curtis Jeremiah, “I can recall Mr. Lloyd hitting the ground hard, and the noise was horrible.” According to eyewitnesses, the impact of his head hitting the ground produced a sound similar to that of a snap.
In court, it was reported that Webster, a resident of Senghenydd in Caerphilly, appeared visibly distraught as he stood over his best friend and repeatedly urged him to get up. The incident was described as frantic and emotional. The user was instructed to “get up.”
According to Prosecutor James Wilson, CCTV footage has been obtained which captured the exact moment when the violence was initiated on April 1st. According to his statement, the defendant allegedly pushed Mr. Lloyd up against a window.
Lloyd attempts to strike the ball twice, but fails to make contact on both attempts. According to the testimony, the defendant allegedly struck Mr. Lloyd on the left side of his face with a right-handed punch, causing him to collapse to the ground.
According to court proceedings, Webster reportedly informed bystanders that he had not intended to commit the act in question following a trivial dispute that occurred in Caerphilly. After witnesses called for an ambulance, Mr. Lloyd regained consciousness three minutes later while staying with his friend.
After departing from the scene, Webster proceeded to a pub and subsequently paid a visit to the mother of the victim. According to Mr. Wilson, the defendant visited the residence of Kay Main, the mother of Mr. Lloyd.
According to her statement, Ben was described as a brilliant friend to the defendant. According to court proceedings, Webster reportedly apologized to Ms. Main and stated, “I’m sorry, Ben and I had an argument.”
According to Mr. Wilson, a concerned mother contacted her daughters to inform them of the incident and subsequently posted a plea for help on Facebook.
During the court proceedings, the victim’s testimony was heard. According to reports, Mr. Lloyd declined to wait for an ambulance at the location and instead attempted to hail a taxi. Upon the arrival of the officers, Mr. Lloyd was found with dried blood in his mouth.
He informed them that he did not need medical assistance and had no intention of filing a complaint. After being transported home to his father’s house, Mr. Lloyd’s family urged him to seek medical assistance due to their fear. However, he declined the offer.
According to sources, Mr. Lloyd was found comatose in bed the following morning by his father. Upon being apprehended later that day, Webster reportedly asked the police, “He’s dead?”
According to his statement, he was at a nine out of ten level of intoxication when Mr. Lloyd swung two fists at him. In response, he fired a warning shot.
In a statement released today, the mother of Benjamin Lloyd shared her thoughts on the recent events surrounding her son.
According to a victim impact statement given by Kay Main, the mother of Mr. Lloyd, it was revealed that Ben and Jay had been acquainted for approximately two decades since they were six or seven years old.
According to the source, the camaraderie between the boys was strong. However, the loss of Ben and the incarceration of Jay felt like a double blow to the individual. According to Ms. Main, she does not harbor any ill will towards Webster as she is of the belief that her son’s death was unintentional. Webster entered a guilty plea for manslaughter on May 3.
According to Judge Tracey Lloyd-Clarke, the two individuals were described as “more like brothers” prior to the tragic incident. According to the speaker, there is no doubt that Mr. Lloyd was greatly cherished by his loved ones, including the person being addressed.
Gwent Police have referred themselves to the Independent Office for Police Conduct following their involvement with Mr. Lloyd prior to his death. According to his relatives, the deceased individual was known for his positive attitude and energetic gait.
They described him as “always so happy and positive” and noted that he “always walked with a spring in his step.” According to sources, he was characterized as a “generous, hardworking, and kind individual with a vast network of acquaintances.”
According to sources, it would be difficult to come across an individual who did not hold a favorable opinion of Ben. According to sources, he is survived by a significant number of family and friends who will deeply mourn his loss for the foreseeable future.
