According to Lexington police, a man was pronounced dead at the location of a shooting that occurred on Florence Avenue, in close proximity to the Lexington Cemetery.
Nineteen-year-old Jalen Henderson has been identified as the victim by the Fayette County Coroner’s Office. The ruling on his death is that it was a homicide. The reported incident marks the eighth homicide of the year.
At 2:09 a.m. on Monday, officers were summoned to the 700 block of Florence Avenue where they discovered Henderson suffering from a gunshot wound. According to the coroner’s report, the individual passed away at the scene on Florence Avenue at 3:15 a.m. on Monday.
Late Sunday night at approximately 10:30 p.m., another male victim was shot on this block. According to police, the individual sustained injuries that are not considered life-threatening and was subsequently transported to the hospital.
According to police, they are currently investigating whether these two incidents are connected.
At present, there is no information regarding any suspects and the investigation is still in progress.
