In loving memory of Castlemaine Football player who died suddenly during game in Kyneton

The Castlemaine Football Netball Club community mourn the “unfathomable” death of under-18 player Dallas Keogh-Frankling in Kyneton on Saturday.

In the fourth quarter of his club’s game against Kyneton, Keogh-Frankling, 17, was tackled to the ground. It is thought that he landed forcefully on his chest area and played for a while before leaving the field.

After the game, his condition deteriorated, and an ambulance was called around 12:20 to transfer him to Kyneton Base Hospital. He passed away before being stabilized enough to travel to Melbourne for additional treatment because he was in a critical condition.

The Castlemaine juniors postponed their games on Sunday and the senior game between the two teams on Saturday. Instead, the club sent an invitation to all participants and their families to gather at their home field, Camp Reserve, to honor the young player who had previously represented Castlemaine Juniors before switching to the under-18 program.

The squad should continue to practice this week as his parents, Mark and Regina, and brother, Ashton, have requested.
