Elite player with the Canberra Gunners NBL1 team, John Mapiou fighting for life following tragic Friday night crash

John Mapiou is a much loved member of the Canberra Basketball community, a junior basketball assistant coach with Scorers Academy, a part time staff member at The Dome Fadden and an elite player with the Canberra Gunners NBL1 team.

The 22 year old was involved in a catastrophic car accident last Friday night. He is currently in Intensive Care with life altering injuries, including a fractured skull, broken jaw, spinal fractures, multiple broken ribs and a perforated bowel.

John has a long road ahead of him to recover from his injuries and return to health and hopefully the ability to return to Basketball. John will be unable to work for many months and will require extensive rehabilitation support to physically recover from his accident.
