Brandon M. Drew Identified As Victim In South Topeka Neighborhood Shooting

The victim of a recent shooting in a South Topeka neighborhood has been identified by law enforcement.

According to Edward Stanley of the Topeka Police Department (TPD), the victim has been identified as Brandon M. Drew, a 39-year-old resident of Topeka. On Monday, a man passed away at a nearby hospital due to a gunshot wound.

On May 15 at approximately 2 p.m., the TPD responded to a report of a shooting in the 3500 block of Southwest Kerry Ave. Upon arriving at the scene, a man was discovered by authorities, who was later identified as Drew.

Drew was found to be suffering from a gunshot wound that was life-threatening. The latest fatality in Topeka marks the 17th reported killing for the year 2023.
