A 73-year-old woman named Christine Sargent was found unconscious at her residence in a tranquil Buckinghamshire village on Saturday morning. She was immediately taken to the hospital, but unfortunately, medical professionals were unable to revive her.
A 77-year-old man named Andy Sargent was arrested on Monday night at a detached bungalow and has been charged with murder. Preliminary post-mortem examination results indicate that Mrs. Sargent’s death was caused by neck compression, as reported by Thames Valley Police.
Residents of Loughton, a village in Milton Keynes, were astounded on Friday evening, stating that they had solely recognized the pair as a “friendly, happy couple.” On Saturday at 8 a.m., police responded to reports of a woman being attacked inside a house at a cottage.
Upon arrival, they found Mrs. Sargent unconscious in the bedroom. A team of officers and a cordon remained outside on Monday. Today in Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court, Sargent made an appearance and was subsequently remanded in jail.
Scheduled to appear in court for a bail hearing at Luton Crown Court, he awaits his legal proceedings.
According to neighbor Shveta Bhasin, the close-knit community was greatly surprised by the news, as they had always viewed the couple as happy. According to her statement, Mrs. Sargent has been seen less frequently since the lockdown and a period of illness. She explained that Mrs. Sargent was hospitalized in December during the Christmas season and was bedridden upon her return four months later.
