In a recent court appearance on Thursday morning, Alberto Sierra Jr., aged 32, the boyfriend of Jeremiah Oliver’s mother, was ordered to be held without bail in Worcester Superior Court.
In April 2014, the body of Jeremiah Oliver was discovered in a suitcase on the side of Interstate 190.
In December 2013, Oliver was reported missing and his body was discovered subsequently. Oliver’s disappearance had been reported several months late as he had not been seen since April of that year.
32-year-old Alberto Sierra Jr. has been charged with the murder of a child and the exhumation of the victim’s body. According to sources, the individual in question is the former boyfriend of Oliver’s mother.
According to the state medical examiner’s report in February 2016, Oliver’s death was ruled a homicide. The autopsy revealed that the child had died due to “murderous abuse of unspecified causes.”
According to reports of neglect and abuse, Oliver and his family were placed under the care of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Family Services.
Following the discovery of the body in 2014, an investigation into the case was launched by the agency.
In a recent development, it has been reported that three employees have been terminated from their positions. The reason behind this decision is the revelation that a social worker, who was assigned to a particular family, had not visited their home for a considerable period of time.
In 2017, Elsa Oliver, the mother of Jeremiah, has pleaded guilty to assaulting and beating her two children. A verdict was reached and she has been sentenced to seven years in prison.
In that year, Sierra was convicted of assaulting Elsa Oliver and her children. Despite being sentenced to seven years in prison, the individual was not incarcerated at the time of their arrest on Wednesday.
