Early on Saturday morning, a two-vehicle incident near Brick Church Pike and Trinity Lane resulted in the death of one of the drivers, according to the Metro Nashville Police Department.
According to the first investigation, 48-year-old Tameka L. Hicks was traveling north on Brick Church Pike in her 2011 Ford Fusion when, according to a witness, she slowly approached the crossing and began to turn left onto Trinity Lane.
According to investigators, a 2007 Toyota Tundra pickup truck traveling south on Brick Church Pike through the junction struck the passenger side of the Ford as the Nashville woman was turning.
According to reports, police arrived at the scene of the collision on May 27 just before two in the morning.
According to the authorities, the Toyota’s 44-year-old driver, Montrell D. Phillips, “observed obvious signs of impairment” and “failed field sobriety tests,” as well as being “extremely unsteady on his feet.”
According to officials, Phillips has been accused of driving while intoxicated, operating a vehicle without insurance, and operating a vehicle with a suspended license.
Hicks was taken to the Vanderbilt University Medical Center in the interim, where she passed away.
Both drivers, none of whom was using a seatbelt, will be subjected to toxicology tests, according to the authorities.
Officials have determined that Hicks’ failure to surrender the right of way was the primary contributing factor in the collision.
