According to the National Park Service, a woman was discovered deceased in a vehicle at Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming during the weekend.
According to a news release by the agency, park rangers were dispatched to an incident approximately 3 miles south of the Old Faithful Geyser on Craig Pass on Saturday evening. A woman’s body was discovered inside a vehicle that had been driven into a snowbank.
According to the agency, a man who was standing outside of a car has been arrested on charges of drug possession and other traffic-related offenses.
The woman or the man were not immediately identified.
According to the park service, investigators are currently working to determine the cause of the female’s death and are in the process of notifying her next-of-kin.
The Denver field office of the FBI has confirmed that it is providing assistance. Requests for comment from the U.S. attorney’s office and the coroner’s office have not been immediately responded to.
The road connecting Old Faithful and the West Thumb Geyser Basin was closed for approximately 24 hours as investigators examined the area. It was reopened on Sunday evening.
