After climbing to the top of Mount Everest last week, Shrinivas vanished.
But on May 19, he texted his wife, Sushma Soma, to let her know he couldn’t return because of High Altitude Cerebral Edema (HACE).
Soma thanked various people for their assistance during this trying time in her moving post on May 27. This includes Shrinivas’ guide, Dendi Sherpa, who Soma described as his “trusted companion” and with whom he had a unique bond.
Soma also thanked Shrinivas’ company Jones Lang LaSalle, family, friends, and staff members of the Singapore High Commission in New Delhi for their support of her and their family “from the onset and through the last week.” Sherpas and other members of the climbing community who participated in the search were also thanked by Soma.
“But in the end, the mountain has the last say,” the wife of 39-year-old Shrinivas Sainis wrote in an Instagram post on Saturday (May 27), informing the public that the search and rescue team was unable to locate her husband.
