Topeka man identified as victim in Lawrence shooting

According to law enforcement officials, a victim has been identified in a homicide that occurred over the weekend in Lawrence. The victim has been identified as a man from Topeka, Kansas.

According to a recent announcement by the Lawrence Police Department, the victim of the fatal shooting that occurred on Saturday has been identified as 20-year-old Cameron Renner.

A former teacher from St. Thomas Aquinas High has been sentenced.

The search for a suspect in this case is still ongoing, according to investigators.

Calls reporting the sound of gunshots near 24th Street and Cedarwood Avenue were received by dispatchers just after 1 a.m. on Saturday. According to a press release, LPD officers arrived at the scene and began speaking with witnesses. However, they did not find any victim.

A car was observed by officers as it sped into the emergency entrance of a local hospital. According to the LPD, a man was discovered in the back seat and was later declared deceased.
