In a recent development, the search for Newkirk proved to be fruitless until a paddleboarder stumbled upon a gruesome discovery at approximately 10:30 a.m. The incident occurred around 10 blocks to the north of the Jacksonville Beach Pier.
According to police, a paddleboarder discovered a body floating approximately 100 yards offshore, which was later identified as Newkirk. The paddleboarder then proceeded to bring the body to shore.
According to reports, the Medical Examiner’s Office has confirmed that the individual in question was indeed Newkirk. The police have subsequently announced the identification on Friday morning.
