Last night at around 9 p.m., a fatal three-vehicle collision occurred on LA 101 near Raoul Road, claiming the lives of two individuals.
As per Derek Senegal, Louisiana State Police’s representative, Jacob R. Touchet, aged 67 and hailing from Iowa, and Susan Dianne Trahan, aged 60 and from Lafayette, lost their lives in the accident.
According to reports, Touchet and Trahan were riding a Harley-Davidson motorcycle south on LA 101 when they were struck by a car from behind. The driver of the car has not been identified and the cause of the accident is currently unknown.
As a result of the incident, the duo was ejected from their motorcycle and landed in the lane of traffic heading north. Subsequently, they were hit by a different vehicle.
Touchet and Trahan were both wearing DOT-approved helmets, however, they sustained fatal injuries and were declared dead at the scene.
Samples for toxicology were collected from all three drivers and sent for analysis.
