Renowned singer, Davido has openly acknowledged that one of his major hurdles as a musician is grappling with his voice. During an interview with TheNative, a music magazine, Davido revealed that he frequently experiences voice loss, which is a challenging problem for him.
This revelation follows a barrage of ridicule from individuals on social media platforms, who often refer to his unique vocal tone as a ‘frog voice.’
The acclaimed artist shared that he has learned to cope with this condition and has developed techniques to manage it effectively.
According to Davido, his doctor has advised him to minimise unnecessary verbal communication to preserve and control his voice when it starts to fade.
He candidly expressed his frustration, stating, “Because my voice is naturally husky, it becomes incredibly bothersome when it deteriorates. I have a strong inclination to express myself and engage in extensive conversations, so when I’m unable to communicate, it becomes exasperating.”
Davido further emphasised the discomfort he experiences when he has a scheduled performance and his voice has not fully recovered, adding, “It’s incredibly uncomfortable, especially when I have a show and my voice hasn’t returned. I tend to be impatient, so I end up coughing during the performance.”
