In Uttar Pradesh’s Jalaun district, the father of a minor rape victim was discovered dead at his residence on Monday morning.
According to the man’s family, he took his own life due to pressure from the local police station to reach a compromise in a rape case. Despite this claim, the police have reported that no suicide note was found.
According to Jalaun Superintendent of Police Iraj Raza, an inquiry into the death has been ordered by the additional superintendent of police. The report will be used to determine any necessary actions.
As per the police, a First Information Report (FIR) was lodged on June 4 against a couple and a 22-year-old prime accused for allegedly committing rape and criminal intimidation. The suspects were additionally charged under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act by the police.
According to sources, the victim of the recent rape incident is a 17-year-old girl whose parents are employed as laborers in Punjab. The victim was reportedly residing with her grandmother at their ancestral home in Jalaun at the time of the incident.
According to a police report, a father in his late 30s filed a complaint stating that his daughter had attended a birthday party at a family friend’s house on March 28. According to the man, his daughter was reportedly raped by an individual who was known to a family friend at the event.
According to the speaker, the victim of a sexual assault was allegedly threatened with severe consequences by a family friend and his wife if she disclosed the incident to anyone.
On May 30, the victim’s parents arrived home in Jalaun, where she disclosed to them the details of the rape.
According to the family, they were reportedly denied assistance when they visited the local police station the following day. Following the involvement of high-ranking police officials, the local police filed the FIR.
According to the deceased man’s wife, the police were initially unwilling to listen to their complaints and file the FIR. According to the woman, even after filing the FIR, pressure was allegedly being exerted on her daughter and husband to change their statement.
According to her statement, she claimed that the head of the local police station had warned her spouse of being falsely implicated in cases if he did not comply with the police’s instructions. According to police officials, they have denied allegations of pressuring the victim and his family members.
According to SP Raza, all three individuals involved in the rape case have been apprehended. According to reports, the main accused in the rape case is a 22-year-old who was already in jail for another offense. The police are said to be seeking his custody remand in connection with the rape case.
According to police officials, the medical examination and recording of the girl’s statement before a magistrate are still pending. According to sources, the victim is scheduled to undergo a medical examination on Tuesday.
