On Sunday, it was reported that a woman who had been sentenced to life in prison for throwing her two children off the Portland Sellwood Bridge had passed away.
According to reports, Amanda Stott-Smith, aged 45, was discovered deceased in her cell at the Coffee Creek Correctional Facility on Sunday morning. The cause of her death was not disclosed.
In 2010, Stott-Smith received a sentence of either life imprisonment or a minimum of 35 years behind bars. This came a year after she threw her 4-year-old son and 7-year-old daughter off a bridge.
In a tragic turn of events, a mother’s son has passed away while her daughter managed to survive.
According to reports, Stott-Smith claimed that the act was motivated by a desire for revenge against her estranged husband.
An autopsy is set to be conducted in order to ascertain the cause of death.
