According to Metro Police, a 4-year-old girl is in extremely critical condition following an apparent targeted shooting that occurred while she was a passenger in a car.
According to police, a shooting occurred at the intersection of Dickerson Pike and Douglas Avenue just before 8 p.m. The incident took place while the car was stopped at a red light.
According to Metro Police spokesman Don Aaron, the Malibu was fired upon by two individuals who exited a vehicle that had come to a stop at a red light. According to Aaron, three children – one aged 4 and the other two aged 2 – were present in the back seat of the car.
According to Aaron, a 4-year-old girl has been shot in the head and is currently in a very critical condition. A 2-year-old in the back seat was reportedly grazed by a bullet in the head. A 22-year-old man who was driving a car was reportedly shot in the arm.
According to Aaron, the shooting seems to have been targeted. According to eyewitnesses, a shooting occurred at a red light when two individuals exited their vehicle and began firing.
More than 20 casings were found on the ground at the intersection by the police. According to reports, another vehicle was struck by gunfire, however, there were no reported injuries.
According to Aaron, the man reportedly drove the car to the Family Dollar store, located approximately 2.5-3 miles away from the shooting scene. According to reports, there is a belief that the mother of one of the children who was in the car at the time of the incident may have been an employee at the location.
