Just hours after receiving his degree from the University of Dayton in Ohio, a 22-year-old man died on Sunday when a car plowed into him.

According to Montgomery County Regional Dispatch, witnesses saw the man, subsequently identified as Ian Brunner, underneath the car just after 7 p.m. outside of a campus apartment complex.

The car had reportedly fallen from a jack and crushed Brunner, according to dispatch.

Prior to the arrival of emergency personnel, the callers made an effort to assist the victim. Finally, the Montgomery County Coroner was summoned to the site.

Brunner, a native of Pittsburgh, graduated from the University of Dayton earlier that day, according to university authorities.

According to an online obituary, Brunner, who received a BS in mechanical engineering, was interested in a number of engineering programs and endeavors in recent years, including a motor sports club at the University of Dayton and a YouTube channel called “Things I Build.”
