Ticara Ya’nae Bolden arrested and charged in murder of Hadden Smith in West Ashley Publix parking lot

According to information released by Charleston Police on Wednesday, a Summerville woman is accused of killing a man who was discovered dead over the weekend in a parking lot in West Ashley.

According to CPD, officers from the Dorchester County Sheriff’s Office and the Charleston Police Department detained Ticara Ya’nae Bolden, 22, of Summerville, on Tuesday. She is accused of killing someone, carrying out an armed robbery, and using a weapon while committing a violent crime.

Bolden had given up her right to a Wednesday afternoon bond hearing and was now being held at the Al Cannon Detention Center.

According to CPD, an officer heard gunshots on Saturday at around 8:20 a.m. while completing out paperwork behind the Publix at 1401 Sam Rittenberg Boulevard. When police arrived at the store, they discovered a man suffering from several gunshot wounds laying in the parking lot.

The man was pronounced deceased at the site by EMS, according to authorities. Hadden Smith, 34, of Summerville, was the male, according to the coroner’s office.

Detectives later identified Bolden as the alleged shooter after reviewing security footage and cell phone records.

The 911 audio from an open line call that arrived at the same moment the officer heard gunfire was recovered by detectives, according to an affidavit from the Charleston Police Department.
