Taji Malik Myers of Beaumont wanted in fatal shooting at Babe Zaharias Park

A 27-year-old Beaumont man is wanted by Beaumont Police after they claim he killed another guy in a park on Friday night.

Just after 10:30 p.m., a man was fatally shot at Beaumont’s Babe Zaharias Park. Detectives think Taji Malik Myers, 27, of Beaumont, is to blame. The park is located at Gulf St. along the north side of Interstate 10.

According to the news release, detectives worked all night to follow up with witnesses, community tips, and information from patrol officers.

Ben Collins, Sr., Justice of the Peace for Jefferson County Precinct One, has already set Myers’ bond at $1 million and issued a murder warrant for him.

Police carried out a search warrant at Myers’ house just before 7 a.m. on Saturday, but he wasn’t there.

If you know where Myers is, the police ask that you phone them at (409) 832-1234 or Crime Stoppers.

Myers and a woman allegedly left the scene in a late 1990s baby blue Buick LeSabre after the shooting, according to authorities.

Not shortly after the murder, according to authorities, the automobile was discovered and impounded.
