According to organizers, Spanish motorbike racer Raul Torras Martinez passed away on Tuesday following a crash during the Isle of Man TT races.
According to authorities, a 46-year-old individual passed away during the inaugural Supertwin race. The incident occurred on the third and final lap between the 16th and 17th-mile marks. The TT, a two-week racing festival, is currently underway on an island located off the coast of northern England.
This event has attracted motorcycle road racers from various parts of the world. Torras Martinez, an experienced TT competitor, made his debut on the island in 2017 and has competed in a total of 21 races.
In the 2022 Supertwin race, he achieved his career best at the event by finishing in 15th place. Throughout his career, he accumulated a total of 18 Bronze Replicas. On Tuesday, he achieved his fastest-ever lap, clocking an average speed of 125.47 MPH, and secured the 20th position in the Superstock race.
According to the organizers, Raul holds the title of the fastest Spaniard to have ever completed a lap on the TT course. In the Supertwin race, twin-cylinder 700cc engines are utilized, which have been converted from middleweight road motorbikes.
The TT races have been held since 1907 and are widely considered to be one of the most perilous events in the world of racing. In the previous year, the event saw a total of six fatalities, with Torras Martinez becoming the 267th competitor to lose their life in the competition’s history. In the tournament last year, fatalities included a father and son.
